2022: A Pivotal Year for Electric Mobility and for Circontrol in France

- France
Electric Mobility Circontrol in France

Active in France since 2013, Circontrol continued its development in 2022 to support the strong growth of electric mobility in France. Here's a look back at a year of acceleration for electric mobility in France:

A Booming Market

2022 was marked by a sharp acceleration in the registration of electric vehicles, a densification of the network of charging infrastructures, and a growing share of electric vehicles in company fleets.

A Sharp Increase In Purchases of Electric Vehicles In France

2022 marked a turning point for electric mobility in France with the massive adoption of electric vehicles by the general public. There are 220,000 new electric vehicles registered in 2022, an increase of 26% compared to the previous year.

Charging in companies was very important in 2022

Installations of Charging Stations Carried Out Mainly in the Private Sector

The number of charging stations open to the public is growing more slowly with a total of 82,000 charging points open to the public in France in December 2022. However, the total number of charging stations installed in 2022 would be much higher because 90% of installations are done in the private sphere. Remember that, according to AVERE, more than 90% of electric vehicle charging takes place at home or at work.

2022 was also marked by the birth of numerous charging offers from private players as well as growing interest from retail companies.

Business Fleets Go Electric

The fleet vehicle market is in the red for its third consecutive year according to statistics from the Arval Mobility Observatory with 256,733 registered vehicles, a drop of 20.36% compared to 2021.

However, 2022 marked a real take-off of electric power in this segment. Registrations of 100% electric vehicles increased by around 25% with 53,574 units and 3.7% for hybrid vehicles. This figure can be explained in particular by the obligations to green fleets put in place by the government.

Heavy vehicle fleets are also gradually switching to electric vehicles

A Transition Accompanied By Numerous Aids, Renewed In 2023

This French transition is pushed by the government with several obligations such as the LOM law and the greening obligations of the fleets mentioned above, but also by many incentive measures which have proven their worth in 2022 and will be renewed in 2023. Among these:

  • Bonuses for the purchase of electric vehicles and for conversion will be maintained in 2023.
  • The tax credit of up to €300 to finance the purchase of an electric charging station (depending on the level of income) is also renewed.
  • The ADVENIR bonus for collective housing, which since 2016 has financed the installation of charging stations in France, will also continue in 2023.
  • The reduction in VAT to 5.5% instead of 20% remains applicable in 2023 directly to the installation estimate for the installation, installation, and maintenance of charging stations for individuals.

Circontrol Expands In France
