Tap and Go parking arrives at Q-Park UK

Tap and Go service Q-Park

Award winning parking provider, Q-Park UK has started the year by launching an innovative Tap and Go payment system. Q-Park customers who visit Central London parking facilities will be able to enter and exit without needing to visit the pay station using contactless technology. Q-Park is investing over £1m in the new technology which will be rolled out across the UK.

Q-Park has seen a significant rise in customers paying by card within the parking facilities. As contactless technology is widely available on mobile phones and credit cards, customers are becoming familiar with contactless payments, therefore resulting in Q-Park developing the new Tap and Go service.

Following on from successful Tap and Go trials in Europe, the bespoke technology has arrived in the UK. Tap and Go will allow customers to enter the car park quickly by tapping the contactless card at the entry barrier and again before exiting. A secure payment will be taken from the card holder after the visit.

The usual retail amount available to spend on contactless is £30 however Q-Park customers will be able to spend a maximum value of £100 which has been amended especially for the service. The system will accept MasterCard or Visa credit and debit cards. Tap and Go is live at Q-Park Park Lane, Q-Park Oxford Street, Q-Park Chinatown, Q-Park Marylebone and Q-Park Burlington conveniently located in Westminster near to top London attractions.

Adam Bidder, Managing Director of Q-Park comments “Q-Park is always looking at ways to improve the customer experience. We are very pleased to be able to invest in new technology and provide our customers quick and easy access when visiting Q-Park. We will continue to lead the parking industry by being at the forefront of development, adopting and embracing technology.”

“As a result of the installation of the new payment system, we will expect to see reduced queuing at the barriers and pay stations, and provide customers with a positive parking experience. We also hope to roll out Tap and Go quickly across all UK sites over the next two years.”
