NMI is an international market-leading FinTech company. A Payment Gateway which develops the most trusted payments software for customers in 38 countries across the world. With offices in Chicago, Salt Lake City, New York, and Bristol UK; our payment technology powers millions of card payment transactions, worth billions, securely and reliably, worldwide. We are currently urgently looking to find a Senior Linux Engineer to join the growing Infrastructure team.

The Linux Engineer will ideally be based full time from our Schaumburg, IL office however we would also consider candidates looking for remote work so long as they live within a distance of the office that means they could come to the office occasionally when necessary. We may consider candidates who need to relocate for this position. However please note that you will need to complete a technical exercise before we will consider an interview for the role from outside a commutable distance, in order to check your technical ability and level of skill needed for the position.

About the Role

  • Teamwork/Collaboration - 30% Regular team meetings to discuss current and long term projects. Daily peer reviews, task pairing, participate in the on-call rotation, and most important... document everything.

Requirements

  • Infrastructure as code – emphatic with incremental development, test-driven design, convention over config, dependency injection, DRY, rapid prototype, service-oriented
  • Demonstrable experience with a variety of platforms and technologies
  • RHEL 7+
  • Dell, Juniper, F5, Equalogic
  • Virtualization: Proxmox, LXC, QEMU
  • Strong grasp of automation tools
  • Puppet, Gitlab CI
  • Self-starter/Self-regulated – you don’t need to ask what to do next.
  • Execute projects with minimal direction. Organized, concise, efficient.
  • Collaborative – crossing functional borders.
  • Interpersonal skills are a must! Strong focus on business outcomes.
  • Consistently developing knowledge of the business and our impact on the market.
