  • Identify architecturally significant features as part of the product roadmap and help drive efficient and appropriate solutions for those features.
  • Recommend solutions that balance the business value of solving a problem with the appetite that the business has to solve it.
  • Weigh the pros and cons of various solutions and how they may fit into the big picture and meet the goals of the roadmap with the right amount of investment.
  • Collaborate with development teams to define solutions for complex problems.
  • Ensure that appropriate diagrams and detailed specifications are in place before teams begin their development.
  • Establish the runway for Architecture and DevOps.
  • Identify opportunities for building and using shared components and services across engineering teams.
  • Execute POCs with new technologies to identify the best patterns and technical solutions to problems.
  • Lead retrospectives on design decisions and explore opportunities to mature and grow the tech stack as space and roadmap evolve.
  • Dig in and assist in identifying, buying, or developing internal tools for use across the engineering organization.
  • Be a focal point for performing technical design reviews and ensure that the appropriate visibility and socialization occurs for those designs.
  • Perform code reviews as necessary and assist in identifying opportunities and solutions to optimize performance and security.
  • Ensure that Passports solutions comply with Enterprise architecture standards and that they meet the appropriate security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with other architects and engineering leaders to define, refine, and evangelize standards and common patterns.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field + 6 years’ experience developing production-ready systems.
  • At least 2 years’ experience performing the role of a technical or application architect.
  • Experience leading discussions around complex solution design tradeoffs and drive conflict resolution
  • at-scale solution design and deployment with a focus on distributed systems
  • experience with multiple types of computing, integration, and data services
  • experience with cloud services and solutions
  • experience with and ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an approachable way for broad audiences, using various methods.
