We are looking for a new Infrastructure Engineer Lead to join our Technology unit in the Infrastructure team. The team is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating our cloud-based service infrastructure in an efficient, reliable, and scalable way.

You have experience in infrastructure development and operations with a strong technical background. You are curious to find what works best, and back your experiments with measurements. You design and implement infrastructure with a long-term vision yet knowing it may change as the landscape evolves. You are also able and willing to use your experience to help other teams design and implement new services in a scalable and operable fashion.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain automation by writing infrastructure as code
• Assist internal teams in the design of scalable, efficient, and operable microservices
• Design measurements and KPIs to evaluate system performance
• Help our security function to build, automate and operate security capabilities
• Improve instrumenting and monitoring a distributed system
• Proactive coordination with internal teams in regard to incident handling and operational issues
• Take ownership of infrastructure projects

Requirements:

• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or other cloud infrastructure
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Vault, and Consul
• Experience and insight into containers and modern container orchestration with Kubernetes
• Familiarity with at least some CI/CD systems (Bamboo, Drone.IO, Jenkins, …)
• Experience in Scrum and Kanban
• Advanced troubleshooting skills distributed, scalable systems
• Willingness to be part of the on-call ring
• Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g. Go, Python, shell scripts)
• Solid understanding of networking and security is a plus
• Fluent in English, as it is the main working language at Virta
• Current residence inside the EU
