City of Westminster, London selects Cleverciti Systems as part of its new taxi rank parking management system

Cleverciti Systems

32 Cleverciti lamppost sensors have been installed at busy taxi ranks in the City of Westminster, London.

The sensor detects occupancy and provides taxi drivers with real-time rank availability in Westminster’s ParkRight application. This will provide taxi drivers with up to date, live information of bay usage to help them make informed decisions on where to rank up, helping to reduce their circling time, improving the utilisation of the rank network, and reduce over-ranking. Cleverciti live data will be used in the Westminster Parkright App as well as in the Parkopedia App. Installation time per sensor: 30-45 minutes.

Cleverciti Systems is a key part of the City’s new Connected Parking Innovation Showcase designed to:

  • Save motorists time, stress, money;
  • Cities benefit from reduced traffic, congestion and pollution;
  • More efficient use of on-‐street resources;
  • Motorists spend less time searching for parking;
  • Better balance of bay occupancy across the network;
  • Improved customer experience.

About Cleverciti Systems Cleverciti

Cleverciti Systems has developed a cost-efficient smart parking solution to monitor parking space availability in real-time. Cleverciti sensors analyze, identify and measure the size of occupied and free parking spaces across entire streets or large parking areas, motorway service areas and truck parking. Cleverciti parking sensors can be mounted on walls or on existing lamp posts — turning them into "smart lamp posts". The exact GPS coordinates of each free or occupied parking space are sent directly from the sensors in real-time to mobile devices, navigation devices and local parking guidance systems for motorists’ benefit. Cities and parking operators also receive valuable data; not just about the availability of parking spaces but also in terms of payment data, utilization of the parking spaces and other statistics.
