SIP Series powered by Commend

'Voice over IP' (VoIP) and the open SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) standard promise simplicity, cost savings and independence for modern business communication. But as with all other type of mass communication, the mainstream manufacturers provide only standard telephones as operating devices.

For these purposes Commend has now found a very elegant solution. Together with the Salzburg, Austria-based firm bct (best communication technology), Commend has developed a product series of call stations that combine the best of the two worlds of SIP telephony and Intercom: the bct SIP Series, powered by Commend.

For the first time, this new product series brings the proverbial Commend product quality to the SIP world. The result are the first terminal devices for IP telephony that are on the same level as their Intercom counterparts of the WS Series in terms of reliability, mechanical construction and manufacturing quality. Apart from voice communication, the new SIP Series call stations come equipped with outputs for additional control and display functions.

It is only when it comes to speech quality that SIP has clear limitations, which are due to the low signal rate of this transfer standard. But wherever the requirements in terms of audio bandwidth, functionality, interface options and security exceed the possibilities of the open SIP protocol, these call stations - even entire SIP systems - can easily and safely be integrated into the world of Commend Intercom 2.0.

The SIP Series will soon celebrate its market premiere: first at CeBIT (March 1-5, Hannover, Germany) with Commend's German distribution partner Schneider Intercom as the exhibitor, and at SSA (March 15-17, Amsterdam, Holland) at the stand of Commend Nederland. The first pilot series has already been sold. Serial production is scheduled to commence within the next weeks.
