DCX Innovations Makes a Major Contribution to Understanding How Parking Space Management Works in the Long Term

In a unique project in which, among other things, 11 parking zones in Berlin were analyzed by DCX Innovations GmbH over more than 2 years using the CITYSCANNER® system, the first six results reports are online as of today.

Goals and research questions

• How high is the potential for repurposing parking space in selected areas, especially after the introduction of parking space management, increased fees or increased controls?
• What effects did the introduction of parking space management and increased controls have on the behavior of users over time?
• Where are there hot spots with high parking pressure?
• Are there rebound effects after the introduction of parking space management?
• What measures should be taken to ensure and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of parking space management?

The basic idea behind the project was to analyze parking zones in a structured manner and with vehicle precision over a longer period of time. A study of this magnitude has never been conducted before, which is why the results are also of great relevance for many other cities and metropolitan areas.

CityScanner is a mobile all-in-one automated parking enforcement system.

Our mobile ANPR sensors scan registration plates and issue parking tickets for unpaid stops. Successful implementation confirms the high efficiency of the solution: one vehicle is as good as 10 walking patrols (two inspectors each) that may be utilized in other less attended parking zones.
