Cheap parking in the municipality

12,000 residents and 800 parking spaces in the town centre. The Austrian municipality of Waidhofen an der Ybbs was looking for a new car park management system that was technically easy to operate and would also provide residents with low cost parking in three multi-storey car parks. DESIGNA had the solution.

Beforehand: It is not primarily about making a profit in many municipalities when they are operating public car parks. On the contrary, it is more about solving parking space problems with affordable tariffs. This is also the case in Waidhofen an der Ybbs, where half of the existing parking levels are for short-term parking, and the other half for long-term parking.

Waidhofen decided to collaborate with DESIGNA and the SLIMPARK system, which is especially suitable for smaller parking areas such as old town centres, Park & Ride, office buildings and also hotels. SLIMPARK can be installed quickly and easily, and is as flexible and efficient as a complete parking system at the same time. It uses barcode technology and can process both short-term and long-term parking tickets. SLIMPARK does not contain many moving parts, which reduces maintenance and costs considerably.

Roman Fahringer, Managing Director of DESIGNA Austria, explains: “The operation of the system and communication with car park customers can be controlled from a central location. The trained municipality personnel can take care of these tasks by means of remote access to the central control system for all three multi-storey car parks and parking areas.”
