Gold for Finnpark: First Prize at the Digital Signage Awards

Which of us hasn't been there? The shopping trip was great fun, but then... you can't remember where you parked your car! At the P-Hämppi car park in the Finnish city of Tampere, "Spot your car" is now helping shoppers to get their bearings. This is especially useful here: P-Hämppi, which was built by our partner, Finnpark, delves 650 metres into the solid rock directly beneath the city.

At the heart of the "Spot your car" system are additional readers for short-term parking tickets and season parker cards that are located next to each lift alongside DESIGNA's automatic pay stations. If a customer is looking for his or her parked car, the control system establishes the location of the vehicle using the license plate recorded when the car entered the car park. The shortest route to the car is then displayed using 3D animation on large screens. Further information on current offers and services in Tampere is also included.

The experts adjudged "Spot your car" to be an innovative product with everyday practicality, and as part of Viscom (the International Trade Fair for Visual Communication), awarded it the gold prize at the Digital Signage Best Practice Awards for 2013- "Guiding Signage". The prize is awarded annually for outstanding solutions in the field of digital audiovisual information systems.

In autumn, P-Hämppi had already been the clear winner at the European Parking Association (EPA) awards in the "New Car Parks" category. The award was presented as part of the 16th EPA Conference in Dublin, Ireland.
