The report also signals emerging adoption of mobile marketing and pay technologies.

“More and more, the parking industry is combining high tech with high touch customer service,” says NPA President Christine Banning, CAE, in announcing the survey results. “In today’s parking marketplace, that means advances in revenue control, access control mobile payment, and mobile marketing.”

  • The study finds 85 percent of commercial operators use automated cashiering; 61 percent of all facilities use energy-efficient fluorescent lighting; and 69 percent of all parking facilities use access control technologies.
  • The industry is moving to neCommerce and sales automation, with mobile payment, pay-by-cell and online reservations leading the way.
