ZipBy Offers Insight Into Mobile Parking

Greg Parzych from ZipBy offers insights into mobile parking and shares ZipBy's plans for the future

During the first edition of our Parking Talks, focused on mobile parking, we had the pleasure to hear from Greg Parzych, President of ZipBy. During the discussion, he shared his thoughts on the role mobile apps have to play in parking, and the ways in which they are likely to evolve, read on to find out more.

Why Do You Feel Mobile Apps Are A Major Medium In Parking?

Headshot of businessman, Greg Parzych“Here at ZipBy USA, we expect that mobile apps will become a major medium in the parking industry.  They are already utilized in so many exchanges in daily life, anything from buying coffee at Starbucks, to checking in at the airport, and so there should be no reason why you cannot use a mobile app to park.

“Additionally, because they do not require the user to carry additional cards, tickets, transponders or transmitters we believe that the e-wallet is the parking ticket for the future, one that will evolve into a completely autonomous solution.”

How Do You Think Mobile Parking Will Evolve?

“Currently, there is a lot of buzz in the parking industry about autonomous, including autonomous vehicles, autonomous parking, and all different applications to support this. Here at ZipBy, we believe that the autonomous mobile parking app is truly the way that an individual should be able to park his car or her car. They should be able to completely dislocate themselves from any interaction with PARCS equipment, from pressing buttons and taking tickets, to going to pay stations.

“Parking should become a seamless, frictionless experience, as this will result in a much higher level of customer service. Ideally, there will be no requirement for the user to do anything other than have the mobile app, they should not no need to touch a phone or hold it up, and so we believe that autonomous parking with a mobile app is the future for the development of our product.”

What Will Be Your Focus This Year?

“We feel that our focus for the coming year will be market education. Parking with mobile apps is really the next generation of parking and yet a surprising proportion of the public don't completely understand how to use it, they are unsure how to download it, how to set up for it etc. And so we feel that the more the public understands the convenience and advantages of using this level of automated parking, the more receptive they will become to using mobile apps. And the fact that so many other market sectors are using this technology will provide additional traction for mobile apps to be used within the parking and transportation industry.”

We would like to thank Greg and ZipBy for their contribution to our first Parking Talks. To find out more about mobile parking you can watch the full discussion, featuring Passport’s Adam Warnes and FlashParking’s Juan Rodriguez:
