One of the service highlights is the hotels guest car park with 80 spaces, which provides ultimate parking convenience with proven SKIDATA APT 450 technology.
As one would expect from a five-star hotel, the Grand Hotel in the famous Italian seaside town of Rimini has a lot of first-class service to offer its guests: 168 rooms, a restaurant and bar, a conference centre and private beach. One of the service highlights is the hotels guest car park with 80 spaces, which provides ultimate parking convenience with proven SKIDATA APT 450 technology.
With the new parking management solution in place, staff at the Grand Hotel can easily monitor the guest car park, take reservations, and ensure the safety of the guests and their vehicles.

It hasnt always been as easy as that, says Mattia Palazzi. The director of the Sporting hotel is a former deputy director of the Grand Hotel Rimini and in this capacity was tasked with overseeing the introduction of the SKIDATA parking management solution. Especially during the summer months our guest car park often used to be occupied by unauthorized vehicles, mostly by holidaymakers parking their vehicles in our car park on their way to the beach near the hotel despite our signposts telling them that this was private property, Palazzi explains.

Every day we had to fight off the intruders, as we used to call them but we didnt really have any control over the comings and goings at our own car park. During the day there was open access to the spaces, and in the evenings and overnight we used to close the main gate which made it quite difficult for our guests to park their vehicles during these times. All in all, it was quite an unmanageable situation, and as one might imagine, this was a huge disadvantage for us as a luxury hotel, where exclusive guest parking is of strategic importance and a deciding factor for guests. Fortunately, he adds with a smile, the parking management system by SKIDATA turned out to be just what we needed to manage our car park efficiently for the benefit of our guests.

There is one entrance and one exit, each equipped with the appropriate gate column, barriers and ticket dispensers. The parking charge is automatically added to the hotel bill, so guests can pay for their parking conveniently at the reception when they check out.

We chose SKIDATA, Palazzi says in closing, because theyve got many years of solid experience in this, and because the systems themselves are very secure. Our particular solution was tailored to our specific needs. For us its a safe investment in the future. Like all SKIDATA systems, this one is also extremely flexible, which means they can easily be linked up to third-party systems. To us it was a strategic decision to go with SKIDATA, as they dont limit themselves to meeting only existing needs and problems, but also keep the door open for future ideas and developments.
