Paradox Engineering Introduces Version 7 of Smart CMS

Smart CMS enables the full remote monitoring of parking facilities.

Paradox Engineering has introduced version 7 of its Smart CMS, the open management platform for cities looking for full interoperability and the highest possible scalability.

Smart CMS manages both small and large urban networks with hundreds of thousands of objects (parking sensors, streetlights, waste bins, environmental sensors, etc.), with improved device control features to easily connect additional equipment, monitor and manage single or grouped nodes.

As far as Smart Parking applications are concerned, Smart CMS enables the full remote monitoring of parking facilities, collecting data from installed sensors to track the number of available lots in a specific area, the duration of each parking, and possible abuses (ie. vehicles exceeding time limits, unauthorized parking in disabled spots or in electrical vehicle charging stations, etc.).

Municipalities and parking operators can leverage this information to better manage existing facilities and take data-driven decisions to increase average usage rates by dynamically set pricing schemes, or design innovative services for drivers. Data flows can seamlessly be integrated with mobile apps, variable message panels and traffic guidance systems to provide real-time parking availability information and directions, online booking and payment services, parking coupons and valet services for shops and local businesses, and more.

Breaking the Silos

Smart CMS is not meant to manage Smart Parking only, but offers the opportunity to control multiple urban applications at once and correlate different data streams to act when necessary.

For instance, the programmed lighting schedule of a car park can be modified in real-time if additional brightness is needed (for example, when the facility is particularly busy, or an accident is reported). On the other hand, lighting can be lowered if no vehicle or pedestrian is nearby, saving power and related CO2 emissions. Waste trucks and operators can be sent to empty bins in a certain area only when their filling level is high, thus avoiding unnecessary effort.
